Where The Action Is

There are so many elements involved in achieving our dreams!  Who knew?  But which one would you say is the most important?

We need to have deeply ingrained in us, the self-image of a person who is successful at the thing you desire most.  If we don’t, we won’t be able to sustain the success even if we are somehow able to attain it.  While important, it’s not the most important.

And we certainly have to know what’s in it for us – the big WHY is crucial to igniting our potential.  And while we may not be motivated long-term without our WHY, it’s still not the most important element.

Visualization is certainly the foundation laying the pathway to our dreams.   The habit of seeing things going our way makes the road easier for sure, but that’s not it either.

And our motivation will remain weak; we will have zero persistence and no determination without a constant mental connection to our WHY.   Not it, but we’re getting warmer.

Confidence in our ability to achieve that dream, coupled with courage will keep us from quitting when the road seems too hard . . . and hard times will come.  Yet that’s not the one single most important element either.

Because while we may have all of these other things in place, unless we take appropriate ACTION, our dreams will only stay dreams.  The people who are most successful, those we most admire, the happiest people alive are action oriented.

Did you know that accomplishment is actually the result of planned, purposeful action.  That’s why this week, I’ve been busy with my action plan.

Here are the actions I’ve taken to achieve my dreams.

  1. Created an action plan – this is the planned, purposeful action.
  2. Began working on the first step – decluttering (9 boxes gone so far)
  3. Taken one load to Goodwill.
  4. Started a garage sale pile.
  5. Researched and contacted a specialty bookstore to sell books.
  6. Brainstormed other ways to get rid of some items.

You see my dream to move on with my life will only remain a dream unless I take steps every single day and create the slight edge in my life which will eventually gain momentum and get me to my goal.

I would love to hear from you what specific actions you are taking daily to bring you one step closer to your dreams.

P90X update – I’m still hanging in there.  I haven’t been perfect, but I keep getting back up on that horse and moving on.

  1. Great thoughts ! I agree! You mention the Slight Edge and the daily habits that create who you are. Getting up on your horse again is one thing. The act of not giving up is crucial. For me, it is a calendar and keeping track of my days and exercises and having a little reward at the end of the week that helps me string-up a line of little successes.

    Hey Debbie,

Great job to put your dreams into action and making your dreams come true! I am thankful for being able to take action on a consistent basis towards my dreams. It is through our relationships with each other that we are able to succeed and take action towards fulfilling all our dreams.

Thanks for all that you do Debbie!
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,

    Debbie,

So glad we were able to connect on a deeper level tonight! Would be cool if we lived close to each other, we could do P90x together! I would love to kind of partner up with you as an accountability partner and I know I need to do what you`re doing as well… wanna play?

  4. Hey Debbie,
I love this! You know, having an accountability partner is huge. It makes a big difference to have someone cheering you on.. coaching you through, and being your support.

  5. Debbie,

The biggest action step I’ve taken this week is to carry “The Slight Edge” with me and read it several times a day. That has helped me stay focused and operate just a tad beyond my capacity.

Huge shout out to you for the massive progress you’ve made!

      Hey Darlene,

I’ve just started re-reading “The Slight Edge” again as well. Such a great book. I’m glad you are getting such a great benefit from it. Thanks as always for your support.

    Hi Debbie,

Consistency in my actions is the action that I have taken. I have learned to not focus so much on the end goal and enjoy the ride.

    Keep the great thoughts coming!

    Always balancing,

    Rafael

      Hi Rafael,

Consistency is so important, but not an easy thing to achieve. Bravo to you for having such a maturity in your life! I appreciate your sharing.

  8. Debbie,
You have accomplished so much already, and now you’re cleaning up the clutter! Congratulations on that and a great article.

I’m cleaning up my messes one room at a time! As far as longer range plans, I want to have my income be geographically independent within the next year. The way I’m doing that is creating more of an Internet and Teleseminar presence. My first big step is a Preview Call next week to launch my first Teleseries on “Bringing Back The Passion” for couples.

Thanks for helping keep me on track,
    Adam

      Hi Chris,

It is becoming easier and easier to share all of the time! I’m glad you find the list helpful. Thanks for stopping by.

  10. Deb…your growth over time is so very transparent. I am privileged to be able to see how amazing of an individual you are. Yes…I believe taking action is the single most important part of moving forward. However, I believe the type of action one needs to take is the action the LORD is showing you each and every day…not just any action that we fancy.

You are wonderful…thanks again for a great post.
